January 30th, 2007
Eastern Counties U17s will join Herts, Essex and Surrey for an Inter – County Sevens Tournament prior to the England – Scotland 6 Nations Match on Saturday 3rd February.
WHO?
At the Regional Trials on Sunday 28th January, Wayne Marshall of Ely RFC, who will be U17s Coach for the day, scored all the Eastern Counties Girls at trial, in order to draw up a squad of 10 Sevens players. He has selected the following:
Sasha Acheson (Sudbury)
Lydia Dzioba (Sudbury)
Stacey Hargrave (Sudbury)
Stephanie Healey (St Josephs College, Ipswich)
Lizell Heather (Kettering)
Jaymie Maxwell-Tingey (Sudbury)
Mishka Mayers (Sudbury)
Natasha Mealing (Diss)
Heather Stammers (Sudbury)
Hannah Watson (Sudbury)
WHERE?
Old Albanians RFC (which is just north of St Albans)
The four county teams will play against each other in a league format on a training pitch away from the main clubhouse and stand. The best two teams will then play a final on the main pitch immediately prior to the England vs Scotland Match. When they have finished, they will form a tunnel for the two international teams as they go on to play.
WHEN?
Timings are crucial: the RFUW have never before allowed Counties the honour of playing a Curtain Raiser prior to a Home International, and we MUST keep to their timings.
No earlier than 12.05: Arrive Old Albanians
12.20: On pitch, ready to warm up.
12.40 First league game starts
13.30 Last league game finishes
Top two teams jog across to Main Pitch
13.50 Final Starts
14.10 Final Finishes
Both teams form tunnel for the Internationals to run through
14.30 Kick-Off for England vs Scotland match
