A Great Day for Eastern Counties
October 23rd, 2006
At todays Rochford Festival, Eastern Counties Clubs came very close to achieving a phenomenal coup, being placed as runners-up at both U14 and U17.
At U14 a Diss Vixens Team which included players from Diss, Ely, Swaffham and Beccles came second to hosts Rochford.
At U17 only one breakaway try separated Sudbury from overall victory. Sudbury’s core group were joined by players from Holt and North East Essex Boadiceas, all of whom played crucial roles in the team’s success. The one try was scored by Letchworth, who have the largest U17 Squad in East Region.
Very many congratulations to both teams, who were working together for the very first time.
Diss Vixens U17s, as in previous years, showed the other teams playing just how to enjoy Rugby. Some girls teams do not always understand that the game comes first, and winning is not a prize to be grasped at the expense of good sportmanship. Diss Vixens continue to be fine ambassadors both for our sport, and for Eastern Counties.
All the girls played out of their skins, and have cause to be very proud.
Further detail and lots of photos to follow.
