Youth Programme 2006 - Ten Days to Go!

September 6th, 2006

Here is the information you need for this exciting programme - the first time that clubs right across Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk have come together for an organised programme of coaching and play for girls, running over 4 dates.

Who?
Any girl of whatever standard or experience who belong to a club or school in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk affiliated to the RFU, who is over the age of 11 and under the age of 17 on 1st September this year.

Where?
Thetford Rugby Club.

Paperwork?
Registration forms will be distributed via clubs / schools. You must obtain written parental permission. If your parents want to take photos, they will have to register on arrival to comply with both RFUW welfare policy and the law.

Don’t forget:
Rugby Boots (no soccer studs please!)
Gum shields (you CANNOT take part without one)
Water bottle
Any other refreshments you may want / need.
Your registration form with SIGNED PARENTAL CONSENT.

What’s going to happen?
The emphasis will be on helping you develop your rugby - both your skills, and your experience of playing in a full side.

We will definitely take one team at U14 and U17 to play against Essex and against Hertfordshire on 3rd December (at Westcliffe in Essex). Whether we take extra teams will depend on further discussions with Essex and Hertfordshire. Whether or not you make the First Team at your age group, you will have four afternoons of great rugby.

What else do we get out of this?
Those who complete the (first ever) Eastern Counties Girls programme will be eligible for a commemorative T Shirt, for which there may be a small charge. For the more experienced U17s, this could be the first step towards a tour to the USA and Canada in July 2008.

For Clubs:
If you have not yet let me know how many girls you wish to bring, please do so as soon as possible. I need to know numbers of U14 / U17 with under or over 1/2 a season’s experience. We have what may be the strongest coaching team in the East Region, but more help is always welcome.
